Troy G. Ward

Troy Ward served as the Associate Head Coach for three years at the University of Wisconsin for the Badger Hockey Team. This is a Division One program that plays in the WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association).

Prior to taking this position, he coached 18 seasons including 2000-2001 with the Trenton Titans of the East Coast Hockey League.

Ward was named ECHL Coach of the Year and was selected to coach the Northern Conference in the 2001 ECHL All-Star Game. The Titans led the ECHL in wins (50), points (104) and winning percentage (.722) while setting ECHL records for the fewest goals allowed (164) and lowest goals per game average (2.28). Trenton also tied the ECHL records for most road wins (25) and most shutouts (9).

The 42-year-old Ward has coached at all levels of hockey prior to taking the job at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This included two and a half seasons as an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League and two seasons as an assistant coach for Indianapolis in the International Hockey League.

The native of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin began his coaching career in 1987 as head coach at his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. After building a successful program in three seasons at UW-Eau Claire, Ward was an assistant coach for three years at the University of Denver before being named general manager and head coach of Dubuque in the United States Hockey League. He was 63-49-3 in two seasons with Dubuque, including a third-place finish at the USA Junior Hockey Nationals in 1995.

Troy serves as the founder and Director for Hockey and Sons Skills Camp. Troy has two sons, Taylor (15) and Nathan (10).

"Outstanding camp and concept.  My son and I have learned a great deal about the game of hockey, made many new friends and have memories to last us a lifetime.  Looking forward to next year to learn more, make new Friends, see old friends and build many more great memories."
